The BodyCraft VR500 is the top of the four models of this brand, which will also offer you quite impressive simulators. Unfortunately, we didn’t get too carried away by their entry-level model, the VR100 (still hard to find), but the VR500 is a top dog for a reason – it’s a great rower! But it has to be for this price – about $1,500! This places him in direct competition with the long-standing market leader, the Concept2 Model E, and even there among the commercial vehicles of the leading premium brands – see below. In fact, the VR500 is a few hundred dollars more than the number of rowers on the commercial/elite market. So, what do you get for your money? Does it deserve a commercial label? In short, a lot and yes :0). So, let’s talk about the details. First of all, the rudder position is excellent. At the age of 19, the high seat certainly gives him the feeling of being in the gym, and the gentle up and down movement of the seat on the crossbar makes rowing a pleasure. The chair does not look comfortable at first glance, but looks deceptive and is in reality a very well designed chair. The quality of the construction is excellent and it looks like a machine that will work for many years to come. A maximum adjusted weight of 350 pounds and a generous warranty period confirm the manufacturers’ belief in the durability of this model. The VR500 uses a combination of air and magnets to create resistance. This combination offers the advantage of air – a realistic feeling of increased rowing resistance when pulling harder, with the functionality of the magnetic mechanism, i.e. the ability of the computer to change the resistance level – very useful for heart rate programs (see below). Other innovative features are the buttons on the handle (see picture on the right) to change the resistance level. Although consoles are common on conveyor belts, this is the first time we see this feature on a rowing machine. You always have to adjust the handle to be able to use the buttons, but at least don’t stop in the middle of your workout if you want to push harder, or let go when you’re tired. Of course, many rowers have functions with pre-installed programs that control the resistance – but this has the added advantage that it happens in every session. But beware, the VR500 is a monster – it’s big and heavy and takes up a lot of space. It’s an ideal solution whether you’re tall or on the long side: it’s suitable for anyone up to 6 metres tall and supports users weighing up to 350 pounds. One of our assessors has 37 stitches, and there is still room at the end of the train! But if you don’t have enough space in your house, you have to think about it. Check the dimensions of the bottom bracket. So far this has been the case with the 99th. Length after the 105th long cheekpiece of the FItness LK580 bra, the second longest rower we have tried.
But make sure that the chest strap for heart rate measurement is not activated – it seems, but it is disappointing, that it cannot be activated when viewing the prices. There is also a target program option where you can set targets on time and distance and form a line to reach them :0). Although it sounds a bit complicated, it’s actually quite easy to use with a single click on the buttons and selections. Summary: But don’t be discouraged: for today’s price, you’ll get a fantastic car that will easily fit the whole family. Last time we checked, it was $1599 for Amazons, but it changes regularly. It’s also worth seeing:
For a similar price, the AirRower Elite is a car worthy of its name. Concept 2 is still worth considering. If you have money and prefer a water/liquid rowing machine, then the Vortex-3, beautifully named in its first year, is a phenomenal machine.
Comments from the owner of the RV500
We thought long and hard about whether we should buy the Concept2, which we would like to use in the gym, or the VR500, which we tried out in the shop. After a long debate we went to BodyCraft because of all the programs, and it’s very quiet. We love it! Jeff and Janet (owner for 5 months)
Wow. What a freak! You can punish this beauty, and you need everything you can give her. Foreign national (8 months and older)
